HISTORY
Although a church has stood on the site since the 12th century, the present building was erected in 1848 and is a good example of early Victorian gothic.
MISSION STATEMENT
Because of its central location, St. Anne's is ideally placed for people who come into the town to shop or for the twice-weekly market.
Whilst its regular congregation is of modest size, many people in the area regard St. Anne's as 'their church', particularly for funerals, even for non-church attendees. On market days the church is open for the service of refreshments (tea, coffee, soup and sandwiches) and houses a gift and charity shop selling second-hand goods of all types.
St. Anne's prides itself in being a 'doors-open' church, with which people are familiar and where they feel welcome and undaunted.
